After postponing plans in 2020, Richmond鈥檚 first-ever is coming to the downtown historic district on Saturday, Oct. 9 from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Named for downtown鈥檚 newest, 鈥鈥 that opened in 2019, the festival will celebrate the community and its long history in the milling industry, and serve as a much-needed reprieve from a difficult year.
鈥淭he City of Richmond is so excited to be able to celebrate the beginning of fall with our first ever Millstone Festival,鈥 said Lori Murphy-Tatum, executive director of Richmond Tourism. 鈥淭he Festival Committee has worked really hard to make this a successful event.鈥澛犅
The inaugural will take over the downtown space with fun community activities, live music, and great local food and drinks. A homebrew contest, car-show, and chili cook-off are just a few of the day鈥檚 scheduled activities. More than 60 vendors and 15 food vendors have committed to being part of the festival. Local favorites and will be present as beverage vendors. The Madison County courthouse lawn will host the festival鈥檚 live acts, including and Friends at 2:00, April with at 4:00, at 6:00, and the at 8:00.聽
In light of the recent rise in COVID-19 cases, extra precautions will be taken to ensure the safety of festival guests.聽 Extra space has been added between each booth and hand sanitizing systems will be located throughout the festival area. Guests are also encouraged to wear masks.
